Words, words! S. A. Bolich has been chased by words since before she even really knew what they were. She won her first short-story contest in the sixth grade, and has been known to scribble on paper plates on camping trips for lack of other writing materials. After side trips into the army as an intelligence officer, corporate world as a project manager, and the classroom teaching web design, she engineered an escape to full-time freelancing a few years ago and never looked back. A native of Washington State, she has managed to travel over a significant chunk of the world, including nearly every back road in the former West Germany. Having grown up with horses, two Thoroughbreds now occupy her pasture, her companions in the dressage ring as well as the back country of the Pacific Northwest. If there is a miserably bad trail anywhere in the Pasayten Wilderness, she's probably been over it. She is currently converting a degree in history into a whole-scale rewrite of American history in a six-book alternate history series. Her work has appeared thus far in such venues as Beneath Ceaseless Skies, On Spec, Damnation Books, and several e-zines, and has earned an Honorable Mention in the Year's Best Fantasy and Horror as well as from Writers of the Future. She is also the moderator of the SFWA-recognized writers' workshop at www.otherworlds.net.
