I've wanted to write science fiction since I was a kid. How's that for a cliché? Well, maybe not the science part so much. I grew up watching Star Trek reruns, Creature Feature and reading science fiction magazines. Star Wars was the first movie I ever saw in the theater a second time.
The not-so-fictional, not-so-fantastical journey through life of marrying, raising kids, divorcing, remarrying and raising more kids happened before I acted upon my dream. Now, I'm writing for a trade journal by day and writing science fiction by night. And getting published!
And getting read. That's what it's really all about, although making money at it would be nice.
Awesome Lavratt, my first published novel, 2009 Unlimited Publishing, is available at Amazon and your favorite online bookstores now.
Many of my stories are on the funny side. We could all use a few more laughs, right? I can't seem to stop writing stories, even while I'm working on a novel.
I've even had a couple things published this year in anthologies that aren't science fiction. One is a short memoir piece about finding my sister and the other is a story about a bull rider. You can find links for both in my published works section.
What do I do when I'm not writing? Reading goes without saying. You can't be a writer, without being a reader. You can check out what I've been reading on Good Reads and read my reviews on Mostly Fiction. I've also been interviewing authors on my blog, Science Fiction and Other ODDysseys. I've also been known to contribute to the Redwood Writers blog on occasion.
I enjoy dancing--especially at Papa's Taverna, listening to blues, meeting interesting people, SF conventions and walking the dog.
