From the Chair, Dave Acton:
Great convention everyone. As in every great event of this size, there will always be a hickup or three and we will always find something we didn’t like or feel that we can do better but those pale in comparison to all the wonderful events and memories I will take away from this year. A big scritch behind the ears for the staff and volunteers who helped us pull off our 23rd convention, 19th in this hotel, you deserve a rest. And a big shout out to both of my daughters, who took it upon themselves to clean up the courtyard on Sunday after people just left their trash on the ground and walked away after the fire show was over. They give me hope for a new generation that care about the world. This is why I read my kids The Lorax.

Author and former RadCon Guest of Honor Jay Lake is dying of terminal colon cancer. He’s using some of his last time and energy in a clinical trial at the National Institutes of Health, where the fan-funded Whole Genome Sequencing data generated last year is helping for the very first time ever further target a cutting edge immunotherapy technique. This may buy Lake some more time now, and will absolutely help future cancer patients. While the National Institutes of Health does not charge patients for services, Lake is still shouldering extensive travel and living expenses for his family and caregivers. This auction will help defray some of those costs.
