Radcon 5: News

Radcon 5a
Radcon 5a is February 13th-15th 2009. And we look forward to seeing you all again next year. This year had 1905 people attend. Get those pictures up for all to see in the picture gallery. The site will be rolling over to next year (Radcon 5a) as soon as possible.I now have some pictures from Masquerade that I will be putting up over the weekend, hopefully some of you will share pictures as well.

Emails are now starting to migrate to the new officers, and the new department heads will be brought forward in the April meeting. If you would like to head a department this year, or help as a second in command send a message with some qualifications and goals/ways to improve the department to the Chair (Laura) before the next meeting.

Next meeting: Thursday April 3rd 7:00 P.M. at the Red Lion.

9 days and counting!!!
Radcon is just around the corner and we are making those last minute polishing touches to make this year even better then last year. The programming book is being sent off to the printers, t-shirts have been ordered and registration is starting to print those pre-registration badges. This year we have a wide variety of panels to suit all tastes. You can plan your time early by checking out the programming grid. Panels topics include writing, fan film/media, history, science, fan, and the misc. (dance/combat demos/etc.) As always our Card Gaming/General Gaming/Lan Gaming will be running all weekend, just don't forget to stop once in a while to eat and take that shower.

Hotel booked
If you are extremely lucky there might be one or two single rooms left, but all of the doubles were booked over 2 weeks ago. At that time there was only 30 rooms left. You can check at the Best Western (See the hotel page) but I don't have a status of our room blocks there.

Pre-Registration
Pre-Reg is closed, all registrations at this point must be done at the door.

Gaming
Gaming schedule has been updated, and the card gaming schedule is now posted. For any questions about these events email gaming. There is usually space for open gaming, but please be polite and ask the people in charge of the room before taking an empty table.

Volunteers
Radcon runs on the generosity of the people who attend it. If you have been coming for years and want to do that little extra for the convention we would gladly welcome the help. If you feel you could be of assistance in a particular department feel free to email them. Setup and tear down always takes a lot of time. If you just want to help but don't know where stop by our Minions/Information desk and offer your assistance for a few hours.

Art Show/Dalmas Auction
The art show information has been updated browse over to the Art page and browse through the artists that are coming this year. As usual the Art Auction is early Sunday Afternoon, but right before this auction we will be doing a special auction to raise funds for the continuing attendance of John Dalmas. Dragon and Dark Horse Comics are a few of the people donating items.

Everything else
There are many other things happening at Radcon this year and the front page just is not big enough to list them all. If you have questions feel free to post in the forums or send an email. We look forward to having each and everyone of you attend this year.

Getting Closer

Final hotel requests due
February is closing in fast (44 days and counting), if you have special hotel requests, get them in NOW. Our hotel liaison requests that all hotel requests be in by the 5th. Anything submitted after this time may not be accepted. This includes requests for room parties.

Pre-Registration
Current years dues are 35$, the cutoff for Pre-Registration (The less standing in line the better) is February 2nd.

Everything else
Each and every one of our tracks is gearing up for the convention. As always we have gaming, writers, masquerade/costuming, art, media, children’s track, history and everything else we could toss in. Final information and schedule of events will be posted as soon as they are available. Check back over the next several weeks as our information is posted. We are looking forward to what should be another great year. Come join us February 15th for all the fun.

Gaming schedule is now availiable. More games may be added as we aproach the convention.

All regular meetings are held at the Pasco Redlion and are open to any members.

2 Months and counting

Radcon is now only 2 months out. The hotel is at least 75% booked make sure to get your hotel reservations in. Overflow is available in the Best Western, but the weather may be cold come February. Membership registration for 2008 is now up and live. (See the Registration link on the left.)

For those of you interested the programming grid is now available to view. This should have the majority of the information, however several panels have yet to be given a time slot. The gamming schedule will be available in early January.

Website Down

Well, as some of you were sure to notice our website was down for about 2.8 days, sorry about that. It happens that the web host I was using had a machine failure and migrated the account to a new box. In doing so the IP address changed and you were then pointed to a big hole of nothingness. Well we updated the DNS and wait about a day and all is good again.

On other notes, final information is being gathered about the convention as it is getting close now. I will be posting a link to the grid in very near future that will have 95% of the information about panels and events happening this year. Last minute changes are inevitable, but hopefully they will stay to a minimum.

Last note is about the hotel. Get your reservation in now, or you might not get a room. If you are running a room party make sure to contact room parties. The hotel is approximately 75% full, if you need something special please have the information in by the first of January if possible. Best way to relay information is to fill out the following form.
